East Buffalo provides DIY mule deer hunting on just over 4,000 acres of private property, right outside Buffalo, Wyoming. This property falls in hunt area 26, which is also a part of Region C for non-resident hunters. As a general unit, it is an easy tag to obtain for all Wyoming resident hunters. This is a management buck hunt, which means we are specifically targeting bucks with poor genetics, non-typical antler characteristics, or animals that are on the decline - trophy bucks are not eligible for harvest on this listing. After the hunt, you will be sent a harvest report to show both Infinite Outdoors and the landowner the animal that was harvested. After your reservation is confirmed, expect to hear from the landowner directly regarding specific bucks that have been identified on the property as management candidates - if dates are open on the calendar, there are qualifying bucks on the property. East Buffalo borders a combination of BLM and Wyoming State land, with additional accessible public ground nearby. Getting around the ranch is simple with a capable 4WD vehicle, and our ranch roads provide reasonable access across the property. We do ask that you keep it on the roads - off-roading is not permitted, and if you harvest an animal in the field, plan to pack it out on foot to the nearest ranch road before loading it up. If conditions are wet, please refrain from driving the ranch roads until they have dried out. Camping is not available on the property, but Buffalo is less than 15 miles away with plenty of lodging and camping options to serve as your basecamp for the hunt.
Hunt Area 26 sits in classic mule deer transition country on the eastern side of the Bighorn Mountain foothills, where rolling sagebrush draws, broken coulees, and native grassland create a diverse landscape that mule deer utilize heavily for both bedding and feeding throughout the season. The terrain on this property gives bucks natural travel corridors and protected areas to work between, and the mix of habitat types keeps deer from having to move far to meet their daily needs. Mule deer populations across Wyoming, including the northeastern portions of the state, have faced significant pressure in recent years. Statewide mule deer harvest has dropped by roughly 35% over the past 5 years, and habitat loss, harsh winters, predation, and disease have contributed to declining numbers in many parts of the state. That said, this is exactly why management hunting matters. Close management will help strengthen the overall health and genetic quality of the remaining herd over time. The goal of this hunt is to continue opening opportunity for mature, quality bucks to reproduce and dominate the genetic pool in the area.
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking and are non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will process 2 weeks after the draw results in this state are posted, or immediately upon booking if the reservation is made after draw results post.
For big game adventures, cancellations made prior to placing a deposit will be handled immediately with no penalty. If a cancellation is requested after a deposit has been placed, Infinite Outdoors will make every effort to reschedule the hunt for a different season or a future year. Refunds are not guaranteed once a deposit has been placed.
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein
