0Come enjoy 2.4 miles on the Williamson River 1 hour outside of Chiloquin, Oregon. Here you will be able to find trout fishing while enjoying the views from the grassy meadows of the meandering river. The Williamson River offers a captivating experience surrounded by beautiful scenery and abundant wildlife. The Williamson River is spring-fed (42 degrees year round) and is suitable for bank fishing with easy access to walking along the river. This property provides access to both sides of the river with 2 bridges on the property to take you from one side to the other. Enjoy the sounds of the Sand Hill Cranes as you cast your line in the water. Look for deep pools and undercut banks to find fish that are waiting there. The property itself allows easy access for beginners and intermediate anglers, however, the fishing itself can be technical at times.
Please note this is in a remote canyon and you do not have cell service.
The landowners have done years of habitat restoration with the ODFW and conservation groups to build 33 channel spans to slow the water in the river and create great pools and pockets for trout habitat. Anglers can expect to catch various species of fish, with the primary focus being on native redband trout, also known as rainbow trout.
Update as of November 2023 the landowner has made vast improvements to the fishery. Multiple Beaver Anolog Dams have been placed. This has allowed the water to gain anywhere from 1' to 2' of water depth. They have also placed weirs and other structures throughout the property.
This property is managed in partnership with RareWaters. By booking this property, you agree to RareWaters's Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Fishing Season: April to Mid-December
Rod Recommendations: A typical fly rod setup will work well on the Williamson River, 4-6 weight range.
The access is easy, the access road takes you right near the river. Please note this is a working ranch with hayfields, the fields are always irrigated and the runoff from the irrigation does go into the access road which can lead to about 8" of water to drive through on the access road. That being said, 2WD should be fine because it is rocked and you should not get stuck. No low-riding vehicles. You can always park near the campsite and walk down about 1 mile if you are not comfortable driving the access road to the river.

Had a truly unique experience fishing this property on the Williamson River. Clear pasture lands lead to easy access to all parts of the river. I could definitely tell the landowner is dedicated to habitat restoration on the property, spotting a number of channel spans throughout this stretch of river. Not a ton of tree shade on the banks so I definitely found the fishing more enjoyable early in the morning and in the late evening. Fishing was technical, but I brought a 12'' bow to hand out of the big hole under the bridge right where you get down to the river. Looking forward to returning later in the fall to see how the fishing progresses through the season.

This is a beautiful property in a gorgeous setting. The Williamson flows through a meadow landscape and is easily accessible for fishing. The property owner has done a great job of adding structure to many parts of the river giving the angler a good chance to target fish in these areas. We fished in the late afternoon and evening and also early morning. We caught a nice 15” rainbow and also a 10” bow during very hot weather. It will be interesting to see how this water fishes at different times of the year. There are some good camping spots that make for a great overnight experience.
