Notes from the landowner

15 miles outside of Rawlins you will find this 1-mile stretch of the legendary North Platte River. Here you will find picturesque mountain views of Elk Mountain and incredible fishing. A legendary history of Native Americans, fur trappers, railroaders, and outlaws enlivens the legacy of this part of Wyoming. This area is a popular place for fishing, especially for trout. You will find yourself getting into Brown, Rainbow, and Cutthroat Trout on this pristine section of the River. The access varies from moderate to difficult on this property as there are some steeper banks and vegetation to get through. 4WD is recommended in the spring and if the area has had recent rains.

There is a boat launch on site.

Do It Yourself Fishing

Infinite Outdoors is a technology platform that provides landowners with the ability to list their properties for recreational use and manage them in a conservation minded way. Infinite Outdoors is primarily dedicated to DIY Hunting and Angling, it is the angler's responsibility to be aware of weather, water flow, and river conditions. No refunds will be issued due to unfavorable conditions. It is the angler's responsibility to verify current conditions prior to arrival. Landowner calendars may show availability even when conditions are not favorable for fishing. In such cases, it is the angler's responsibility to check all local rules, regulations, and closures before fishing. Please review the Fishing Information tab for details that may assist in planning your trip. During warmer periods of the year, anglers are advised that early morning fishing generally provides the most favorable conditions.

River was blown out. Check back in June.

5 out of 5 stars

Went to this location in late June as an experiment, had a day between float trips. It was a bust. River flow was much too high, 2400 cfs according to the USGS flow gauge (WY - 06630000) which is near the upstream end of the property. We thought the flow gauge weir might provide some fishing spots but nothing there. Downstream was like a moving lake, no bubble lines or riffles. Too deep for wading, had to fish from the bank with 2-3 ft of beach accessible through some cattle paths through very thick vegetation. Downstream about 1/4 mile totally inaccessible with thick vegetation over the river. Rarewaters should only lease this property when river is fishable, maybe take a season to figure out when this would be. Camp sites definitely need 4x4 high clearance for access and can get really muddy judging by the deep ruts in the track.
