Welcome to East Buffalo, a DIY pronghorn doe hunt on just over 4,000 acres of private land in Wyoming Hunt Area 16, sitting just east of Buffalo, WY. This listing is for doe harvest only - if you're looking to chase a buck on this same property, that package is available under a separate listing here on the IO platform. The ranch shares borders with roughly 1,500 acres of BLM and Wyoming State land that is difficult to access and connects to 2,700+ acres of easily accessible BLM to the west. Public land pressure in the surrounding area consistently works to the hunter's advantage, nudging animals onto the private ground and keeping pronghorn numbers strong throughout the season. Getting around the property is simple due to well-maintained ranch roads that are drivable with a capable 4WD vehicle just fine, and they double as access corridors to the eastern BLM for hunters looking to cover more ground without a long hike. We do ask that you stay off the ranch roads when they're wet and let them dry out before driving. Off-roading is not permitted - if you down an animal out in the flats, pack it out on foot to the nearest road and bring your vehicle in from there. There is no camping on the property, but Buffalo is a short drive away at under 15 miles and has solid options for lodging and camping to set up your basecamp for the hunt. On top of being a great hunt, pronghorn doe is widely considered some of the finest table fare the West has to offer — lean, mild, and excellent from field to fork. If you're looking to put meat in the freezer and have a blast doing it, this is a hard hunt to beat.
Hunt Area 16 sits in the transition zone between the foothills of the Bighorn Mountains and the open high plains of northeastern Wyoming - a landscape that has supported pronghorn populations for generations. The property itself is a mix of sagebrush steppe, native grassland, and seasonal drainages that collectively provide the food, water, and cover that does rely on heavily, particularly heading into and through the fall hunting season. Does in this part of Wyoming tend to form loose aggregations across the landscape as the rut approaches, making them highly visible and accessible to hunters willing to spend time behind quality optics. Pronghorn numbers in this region of Wyoming have been on a recovery trajectory, with fawn production improving notably in 2023 and reaching exceptional levels in 2024 - a direct reflection of stable doe populations and favorable range conditions. Wyoming manages its pronghorn doe harvest conservatively under a limited quota framework, meaning when doe tags are available in a given area, it is a reliable indicator that the local population can support the harvest.
