Brown Trout, Rainbow TroutExplore 2.8 miles of the North Fork of the North Platte River near Walden, Colorado. This picturesque high-basin stream, located just three hours from Denver, provides anglers with both scenic beauty and easy access for a memorable fishing experience. This is the upstream beat of the two properties outside of Walden, CO.
Parking is convenient and close to the river, followed by a gentle 100-foot slope down to the water. As the river flows through a series of island-like hayfields, it splits into two distinct channels, offering numerous bends, cutbanks, riffles, runs, and deep pools that range from 3 to 6 feet deep, depending on the season. The willows lining the banks provide some shade but won't get in the way of your casting. The streambed, made up of stones between 2 and 6 inches, is easy to navigate, though anglers should note a few 1- to 2-foot steps along the riverbanks.
Here, you'll primarily be targeting Brown and Rainbow Trout. To handle the variety of fish, including some potential hidden giants, we recommend using a 3- to 6-weight rod, between 7'6" and 9' in length.

Fished the North Fork on Sunday June 22 Beautiful ranch and meadow section broken into 2 channels Wind steady at 20 gust to 30 Warm Bright sun. Fished from lower bridge up stream, Challenging in the wind caught a few browns working opposite banks Water level in outer channel is low, better closer to road.
