We're excited to offer 2-day DIY spring turkey hunts on our family farm. Nebraska turkey licenses are valid statewide - for non-residents, they are limited and tend to sell out fast, so if you're coming from out of state we recommend you be ready to purchase a tag the day they go on sale. For residents, tags are unlimited and you're allowed up to two per season. With that in mind, we ask that you only harvest one turkey per trip to our farm. We welcome hunters using shotguns or archery equipment, whatever your preferred method happens to be. Ground blinds are allowed and encouraged, but we do not provide any and ask that you break yours down after the hunt is over. This property remains an active part of our farming operation, so you may notice equipment or activity nearby during your hunt - we'll steer clear of your hunting spots as much as possible. We don't offer lodging or camping on site, but Crawford is close by and offers easy options for a place to stay during your hunt.
This region is where Nebraska's wild turkey population got its start back in 1959, when Merriam's were reintroduced here and grew rapidly within just a few years. That original stronghold has held, and today Crawford remains a go-to destination for hunters chasing a merriam bird.
Turkey numbers on and around the farm run high. Predators are part of the landscape too - bobcats, lions, and coyotes all work this country, but rather than suppressing the population, that pressure mostly just shapes turkey behavior. The farm's mix of habitat plays into why the population is high. Open pasture ground gives toms room to strut and show off for the ladies, while pockets of timber and draws offer the kind of secure roosting cover Merriam's prefer. Add in the reliable water and feed sources already established, and the birds here have little reason to leave, keeping activity consistent.
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking and are non-refundable. The outdoorsman fee will automatically process 7 days prior to the hunt. It is the responsibility of the party organizer to ensure each guest is added to the adventure 7 days or more before the hunt, so charges can run accordingly.
For turkey adventures, cancellations must be made more than 7 days prior to the scheduled hunt. Cancellations made within 7 days of the hunt will be subject to full charges.
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein
