1 DayIf you’re wanting an Eastern Turkey, this is the place to book! Whispering Pines is a Semi-guided / DIY turkey hunting property located in Chappells, SC. Consisting of just under 150 acres, this property boasts the ideal location and habitat for harvesting eastern turkeys. Minimal to virtually no hunting pressure on neighboring properties has created a healthy population of birds in this area, that are very susceptible to many hunting methods. In the 2024 spring season, the landowner harvested a 20 lb. tom with a 9 ½ inch beard and ¾ inch spurs opening day, using several calling techniques as well as a jake decoy. Whispering Pines has a max daily guest limit of 2 hunters and can responsibly withstand the harvesting of 4 or 5 mature toms in one season. As this is a DIY hunt, hunters will need to be prepared for a 'run and gun' type hunt. This means bringing your own chair/seat, ground blind if you choose to hunt from one, and all other equipment necessary for success. Upon booking this hunt, you will be contacted by the landowner to set up a potential scout day prior to your hunt; please look for that contact!
Whispering Pines Turkey boasts an incredible habitat for the eastern turkey. Since burning the underbrush in 2023, the turkey flock has grown exponentially. On top of this, there is nearly a full mile of hardwood timber that has historically provided excellent roosting locations for birds on the property, as well as neighboring properties. Several food sources on site also provide ample reason for any turkeys in the area to spend plenty of time on this 150-acre property. Those food sources include chufa, clover, and others. Birds are often see strolling through the landowner’s backyard showing off pullets, eating bugs out of the garden, or dusting in old fire ant mounds. Toms will strut and posture for the hens in the spring while landowners watch from their back deck. Note that SCDNR sells Non-Resident hunting licenses in 3-day, 10-day, and annual increments. Non-Residents are allowed 2 birds in one season; HOWEVER, this landowner asks that you only harvest one bird per day during your hunt.
