Just south of Jefferson, Colorado you'll find this quiet stretch of Michigan Creek that doesn't see much pressure. We've got roughly a half mile of private creek that is all yours to fish, but as an added bonus we also border Pike National Forest, which offers an additional mile of public water - between the two, you'll have plenty of water to spend a day or two fishing!
Both sides of the river are fishable on our property. There is a sturdy bridge that will help you cross, or when conditions are right you can simply wade across. If you do use the bridge, we advise one person at a time.
Dogs are allowed on site, just know that there is potential for other wildlife in the area. We ask that you clean up after your dog, as well as yourself - pack it in, pack it out. If you'd like to fish more than one day, you can book camping through our HipCamp link found in the FAQ's below!
Michigan Creek is a small tributary of the South Platte River system flowing through the open meadows of South Park in Park County, Colorado. This stretch of water sits just a few miles downstream from the confluence of Jefferson Creek and Michigan Creek, and just a few miles upstream of the confluence of Tarryall Creek and the Michigan. The creek supports a self-sustaining population of rainbow and brown trout. The stream bottom is predominantly gravel and sand with deeper pools forming on the outside bends. Brown trout activity peaks in the fall during the spawn, while the caddis hatch provides reliable surface feeding opportunities from late spring through early fall. Terrestrial insects become an important food source through midsummer. Water temperature and flow are typical of high elevation meadow streams at this latitude - cold, clear, and dependent on snowpack. Flows are generally most productive for fishing from late spring through fall before winter conditions set in.
