La Bonte Creek is a DIY turkey hunting property located just south of Douglas, Wyoming, offering over 800 acres of quality turkey habitat in a quiet stretch of central Wyoming. Situated in Wyoming’s Turkey Hunt Area 1, the property benefits from over-the-counter spring turkey licenses for both residents and non-residents, making it an accessible opportunity for hunters looking to plan a flexible trip without navigating a complicated draw system. Historically, this property has experienced very minimal turkey hunting pressure, helping maintain natural bird behavior and providing hunters with a true DIY experience. Hunters should expect to do some walking and exploring to locate birds, as access across the property is foot travel only beyond the designated parking area. All hunters must park at the single designated parking location and access the remainder of the property on foot. Please refer to the Infinite Outdoors app for exact parking details. To help preserve the experience and minimize disturbance on the property, please limit vehicle numbers to no more than two at the parking area.
La Bonte Creek offers a diverse mix of riparian habitat, agricultural food sources, and open prairie that creates excellent conditions for Merriam’s turkeys. The centerpiece of the property is La Bonte Creek itself, which winds through the ranch and is lined with mature timber and dense creek-bottom vegetation. These large trees provide ideal roosting cover, while the surrounding creek corridor offers protection from wind and weather and serves as a natural travel route for birds moving through the property. Adjacent to the creek bottom are scattered brush flats and native grasses that transition into open prairie and agricultural fields. Several ag fields planted in oats and hay/alfalfa mixes provide consistent food sources that can attract and hold turkeys, particularly during the spring when green forage becomes available. These fields also create natural strutting and feeding areas where birds can often be located during morning and midday movements. The mix of roosting trees, reliable water, feeding areas, and open calling setups creates classic Merriam’s turkey habitat. Birds commonly move from the cottonwood-lined creek bottom into the nearby fields and open flats to feed and strut, especially during the spring breeding season. Turkey numbers on the property are considered solid for the area, and the combination of habitat diversity and relatively low hunting pressure allows birds to use the property naturally. Hunters can expect to locate birds along the creek corridor early in the morning before they disperse into surrounding feeding areas throughout the day.
After your hunt, you will be sent an automated Harvest Report. To assist Infinite Outdoors in maintaining the quality of properties - and continue to put conservation at the forefront - we require that the harvest report be completely filled out and returned. Failure to fill out the harvest report within 2 weeks of the hunt taking place will result in a $25 fine. If you are unsuccessful in filling your tag, Infinite Outdoors still needs to have that information provided to them. This is how we will make changes to future year's harvest quotas and continue to be the most well managed access and conservation platform in the country.
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking and are non-refundable. The outdoorsman fee will process 7 days prior to the adventure - it is the responsibility of the party organizer to ensure each member of the hunt is added to the guest list prior to 7 days before so charges may run accordingly.
For turkey adventures, cancellations must be made more than 7 days prior to the scheduled hunt. Cancellations made within 7 days of the hunt will be subject to full charges.
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
