Grassland Goats is a DIY pronghorn hunting opportunity in Colorado Unit 109, offering access to just over 900 acres of private ground spread across several parcels on the eastern Colorado plains. These parcels stretch roughly 20 miles east to west, giving hunters the ability to cover a broad portion of the unit while searching for a quality buck. Unit 109 is one of the few eastern Colorado antelope units that includes some public land opportunities, though the majority of the unit remains privately deeded ground. One of the parcels included in this listing borders public land, providing additional nearby access and the potential for pronghorn to move between public and private country. This hunt will be conducted entirely as a spot-and-stalk style hunt, allowing hunters to glass large stretches of country and plan careful approaches on pronghorn across the open terrain. The property is made up of multiple separate parcels, and hunters should use the Infinite Outdoors app to view all available tracts and access points included with this listing. Parking areas are located along main county roads near each parcel, allowing hunters to access the properties without crossing private ground not included in the listing. Depending on draw results, landowner vouchers in this region may be available for an additional cost to the landowner. If you are interested, please make your reservation prior to the first of April so the landowner knows how to apply accordingly in the draw.
Grassland Goats sits in the open prairie and agricultural landscape of eastern Colorado’s Unit 109, where large blocks of CRP grasslands are interspersed with dryland farming and irrigated crop fields. Much of the acreage on this property consists of expansive CRP tracts, which provide tall grass cover across otherwise open country. While CRP is not the primary forage pronghorn seek out for feeding, antelope commonly use these areas for loafing during the day and avoiding hunting pressure or nearby county road activity. The taller grass also allows pronghorn to bed with some concealment while still maintaining the long sight lines they rely on. Surrounding much of the CRP are agricultural fields scattered throughout the northern portion of Unit 109, and one parcel included in this property is planted entirely in wheat. In this part of eastern Colorado, pronghorn frequently prioritize agricultural crops over native prairie forage, particularly during late summer and early fall. These green fields can become consistent feeding areas as antelope move between bedding locations and nearby food sources. Unit 109 supports stable pronghorn numbers typical of Colorado’s eastern plains, where populations are generally spread across a mix of private rangeland and agricultural ground. Antelope in this region are often widely distributed but tend to concentrate around reliable forage and water sources across the landscape. Trophy potential in Unit 109 is considered moderate but consistent, with mature bucks commonly falling in the mid-teens range for horn length.
