0Experience the beauty of the 1 mile of the Colorado River as it flows just 17 miles away from Glenwood Springs, Colorado. In this area of the state, the river is quite large due to the countless tributaries that feed into the Colorado River. Wade fishing can be productive as many fish hold along the rocky banks. Nymphing or stripping a streamer around the boulders and pocket water will put fish in the net. You will find Brown and Rainbow trout on this property. The potential for a true trophy is possible on the property.
This is an active ranch with livestock and hay fields. Due to that, there are a few electrical fences near the main house and barn areas.
The first 1/3 of this stunning property offers anglers an abundance of interesting structures in the water, a result of the river’s redirection in the early 70s. Strategically placed rocks ensure protection against flooding and create a dynamic environment for fishing. Though the bank is steep, anglers will find plenty of excellent fishing spots in the form of pocket water and deep holes. While wading is limited in this section, numerous casting options make up for it. Access to this area is through a pathway used by grazing livestock such as cows, sheep, and goats.
Moving on to the next 2/3 of the property, the terrain levels out, making access much easier. Here, anglers will find an array of opportunities for dry fly fishing, nymphing, and swinging flies. Wading is smooth, thanks to well-placed stones measuring 4″ to 12″ in size. It’s an angler’s paradise waiting to be explored!

This is big water. Streamers worked best. If you are a spey fly fisher this would be an outstanding water to fish. We caught a few fish but this week we fished was high pressure, hot days (in October - 85 degrees??!!?) and high sun.

Nice property on the Colorado River, with overall good water access in nearly all areas. Warm October day that I “force fished” numerous streamers on. I only saw one brown along an edge of the upper run area that I was able to get to move. Other than that, no fish caught today. Buddy fishing with me had a couple of strikes while nymphing and netted only one. It was a very sunny day on a wide and fast river…for me personally, best to float the Colorado River.

This is a nice little spot. Tons of easily accessible river access and runs. Got there pretty late but still managed to catch 2 fish before a storm rolled in and then it rained for the next 7 hours. Had several drift boats park across river and fish for a while, which I think means there is a good amount of fish in this section. Flows are good and you can wade pretty far out. The campsites are nice, have a firepit, a table and are well maintained. You park about 20 feet from the campsite and then have to haul your stuff down. Because it rained for so long I opted to hang out under the truck awning for most of the evening instead of at the campsite. This is a real farm! cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, turkeys, and peacocks, its pretty cool. Next time I'd go for their RV campsite just so that I could camp next to the truck and awning.
