Mule Deer & ElkThis 520-acre property outside of Craig, Colorado offers a great opportunity for a classic Northwestern Colorado hunt. Hunters who make a reservation on this property will be allowed to hunt any species for which they legally obtain a tag - this includes mule deer and elk, as well as the occasional grouse! Hunters booked here will also have access for the entirety of the season in which they have booked - unless it is during archery season, which will then result in a 7-day access timeframe. This gives hunters the flexibility to hunt when conditions are right. Hunters are welcome to drive the existing two-tracks to get around the property, but please be mindful of wet weather. If it rains, the roads can get slick and sloppy, and we ask that you avoid driving to help prevent any damage. For those bringing a camper or trailer, there is an RV electrical hookup available on-site, along with a clean outhouse for added convenience. Tent camping is also allowed, but Leave No Trace laws will be in place, and violations will result in a monetary fine. It’s a straightforward, productive spot with a solid history of success, ideal for hunters looking for a dependable spot with the potential for memorable encounters.
This property sits at just under 7,000 feet in elevation and is classic high-desert steppe, defined by open sagebrush, native grasses, and rugged terrain with a few steep draws and ridgelines. The habitat here offers year-round appeal for mule deer, which tend to reside on the property most of the year before moving off during the harshest winter months. Elk typically start appearing in small groups by early October as hunting pressure builds elsewhere. Herd numbers often increase as the season progresses, and it’s not uncommon to see them well into December. Water is available year-round from three ponds, with improvements underway to help additional water sources hold through the dry summer months. While the elevation change is mild, about 350 feet from top to bottom, don’t underestimate the terrain. It can be an easy hunt if you stick to the main road along the ridge, but pursuing game into the lower country or through the steeper drainages will require more effort. It’s the kind of land that rewards hunters who know how to read the ground and put in the time.
After your hunt, you will be sent an automated Harvest Report. To assist Infinite Outdoors in maintaining the quality of properties - and continue to put conservation at the forefront - we require that the harvest report be completely filled out and returned. Failure to fill out the harvest report within 2 weeks of the hunt taking place will result in a $25 fine. If you are unsuccessful in filling your tag, Infinite Outdoors still needs to have that information provided to them. This is how we will make changes to future year's harvest quotas and continue to be the most well managed access and conservation platform in the country.
A booking on this property is valid for the entire season. So it can be a 5-day or a 7-day hunt depending on the season you choose to book.
https://infiniteoutdoorsusa.com/links/Colorado-Deer-Draw-Odds - This hunt is not species specific. Any tag that a hunter has for this unit is going to be valid for the time they have booked.
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking, and are non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will process 2 weeks after the draw results in this state are posted. If you are unsuccessful in the draw, reach out to IO and the situation will be handled accordingly. The remaining 50% will process 1 month prior to the hunt.
Cancellations made prior to placing a deposit will be taken care of immediately. Any cancellations needing made after placing a deposit will result in attempts to reschedule the hunt for a different season, or a different year. Please note that refunds are not guaranteed.
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
