NoLocated just 40 minutes from Idaho Falls, this private access stretch of the Teton River offers a rare opportunity for anglers seeking both solitude and quality fishing. The property includes 0.70 miles of river frontage that has been carefully maintained and lightly used. The landowner has enjoyed many successful days on the water here, including landing a 24-inch Cuttbow hybrid right from the backyard. While the property occasionally sees a float-guided trip pass through, it is generally quiet and offers an uncrowded experience. Guide access is limited, keeping the water pressure low and preserving the integrity of the fishery. The landowner notes that downstream access is easier to navigate, with open, rocky banks that are ideal for casting. In contrast, the upstream half features willows and intermittent tree cover, creating more technical fishing conditions. Whether you're targeting trout in spring or late summer, this property provides dynamic seasonal fishing opportunities.
Due to livestock and other concerns, dogs and other pets are NOT permitted on this property.
This stretch of the Teton River runs along the western base of the Tetons and is renowned as one of the most productive and scenic fisheries in the region. The river supports a diverse and healthy population of Rainbow Trout, Cutthroat, Cuttbow hybrids, German Browns, and Brook Trout. Prolific hatches from spring through fall provide consistent action for both novice and seasoned fly anglers. The downstream section of the river offers easier casting access and is ideal during high spring flows, while the upstream portion, shaded by willows and trees, comes alive in late summer. In addition to the thriving trout population, the property is rich in wildlife. Anglers can expect to see bald eagles, osprey, deer, fox, and other native species throughout the area. This section of the Teton is known for its variety of holding water and ideal trout habitat ranging from undercut banks to deep pools making it a world-class destination for dry fly, nymph, or streamer fishing.

Incredible couple days at Craig’s property! Found a little weather window early March & shot over to see what the fish were up to. First day, first fish, first hour was a 20”+ brown on a streamer up river. Beautiful start! With the 370cfs flow (39 degrees F) just starting to come up I found the most consistent fishing down by Craig’s pad where I caught rainbow after rainbow after rainbow (12”-18”) on smaller streamers, wooly buggers & crawdad patterns (especially on Galloup’s Big Hole Bug in Olive/Brown!). This property is incredible & I’m always honored to experience the best the Teton River’s got in Craig’s backyard! Thanks Craig!!

Another awesome visit to the Carter’s property! Targeted the first cold storm of the fall (September 11 & 12) to head back down to the lower Teton and see what the trout were up to after a very hot and dry couple weeks of slow fishing. Day 1 was kind of a the transition day with flows slowly rising from 500cfs. We fished hard and caught some beautiful browns and bows in the 14”-18” range, with Purple Haze #14 & Prince Nymphs #12 being the go-to flies. We found some of the best fishing this day in the braided section just above Craig’s home. Day 2 was one of those weather classic cold, wet & windy days where you just hammer angry trout all day. Conditions were STELLAR as the flows reached up to 560cfs and started to push the big browns out of there resting water. These browns were really cueing in on stone flies, the bigger and uglier, the better! Dead drifts worked well but most effective were short casts with tiny jerk/strip retrieves. Beadhead Prince Nymphs w/ rubber legs #10 & TJ Hooker (coffee color) were DYNOMITE. Always an amazing time at the Carter’s! This has me wondering how good the bite got after two more cold storms since we were there… Looking forward for another beautiful short drive from Teton Valley to fish here again. Thank you RW team!
