Infinite Outdoors has recently become the largest waterfowl access app in the Colorado and Wyoming front range area. There are over 50 waterfowl properties in this region alone, so how do you know which one to book your next D-I-Y hunt at?
Lucky for you, here at Infinite Outdoors we put together a list of which properties are ranked highest amongst our users. We compiled all the data sent in by YOU and your reviews to show which properties stand out year after year.
Any time someone goes out and hunts on a property they have the ability to leave a review and to upload photos from their hunt. These reviews help us determine success rates, ease of access and overall satisfaction with the property. Our reviews are broken down into 7 different categories, ranging from overall experience, to habitat concerns and new for this year, harvest reports. Here are a few questions we based our rankings off:
So which Waterfowl properties come out on top?
Goose Fields
Located in Yoder, Wyoming which is on the Eastern portion of the state, south of Torrington, Horse Creek is on approximately 110 acres in the Central Flyway C1-A. This fields location between Hawk Springs Reservoir and the North Platte sets it up right in the heart of the best flyway in the state of Wyoming. At Horse Creek you will find agricultural fields which rotate between Corn and Alfalfa, both of which are excellent food sources for geese. For the 2023/2024 season Horse Creek will be planted to alfalfa, a rich food source for geese throughout the year. The owner has built a hay bale blind for hunters to use or you can bring your own ALPS or other brand layout and set up anywhere in the field. Infinite Outdoors members do receive discounts on ALPS OutdoorZ blinds which would be an excellent option to take to this property.
In this instance smaller is better. Vrain Goose sits on 32 acres right along the Vrain River near Platteville Colorado. This property has been a go to for hunters for the last 3 years and never seems to disappoint. With nearby roosting on the river and power plant ponds, bird numbers are high in both early, middle and late season. Plus the advantage of having the pit on the crest of a hill brings birds in close, limiting their chance to flare out of range. This field has a full 6 man pit for you and your whole group to enjoy all season long. With over 24 5 Star reviews it's hard to deny that this is one of our top waterfowl properties on the Infinite Outdoors website.
Located on 39 acres in Wellington Colorado outfitted with a new for the 2023/24 season, 6-man pit. This property is located just outside of Fort Collins in a prime location to hunt geese that see limited pressure while hanging out in the city. Who doesn’t love hunting geese that are accustomed to urban developments are less educated to hunters. With roost ponds to the south, north, east, and west along with high pressured fields to the north, birds tend to find refuge in this field, especially as hunting picks up later in the season. Capitalize on this close to town field and get great action close to home!
Duck Properties
Just South of Greeley, Colorado on the South Platte River, Gander River East Blind sits on 45 acres right along the river. This property has a blind large enough to comfortably fit 4 hunters and has recently been re-done and updated for the 23/24 season. This duck and goose property has been a go to for both seasoned hunters and newcomers alike. The shallow river that is made up of great landing spots for waterfowl keeps hunters coming back for more and creates opportunities for success all season long. Look for this property to only get better as nearby water sources freeze up in the colder months.
Located just northwest of Platteville Colorado along the St Vrain River, these two blinds boast some of the best duck hunting opportunities in the front range. The blinds provided on each property are tucked away just next to the river making them ideal for successful hunts. Birds roost and feed along the river all season long and hunting continues to get better as the cold weather sets in. Ducks and geese have been taken in good numbers at both blinds so hunters should be prepared for shots at both! Vrain North and South have received approximately 30, 5 star reviews on the property and hunters can't seem to get enough, making return trips every season.
If you’re looking to hunt Duck in Wyoming, look no further, Tank Farm Waterfowl in Glenrock Wyoming has also claimed a top spot on our list. This property's location in the Central Flyway zone 1, along the North Platte river just below the Glenrock Dam makes this a pristine duck hunting spot. Birds fly the river throughout the day moving between this location, Central Bixby and Far East Bixby, both available for booking on the Infinite Outdoors platform. Many limits were had last season with mix bags of Mallards, Gadwald, and an assortment of divers coming in tight to decoys. Again look for this property to improve as water above the dam freezes, pushing more birds downstream.
So when you’re looking to book your next D-I-Y hunt the above options are excellent choices. Keep in mind that we have over 50 other waterfowl properties so don’t be discouraged if these seven properties aren't available for the dates you're looking for! These are just the tip of the iceberg. All of our properties are vetted by our staff of biologists to ensure that each one of them gives you an opportunity for success! Check out our website or app and look at availability, and as always feel free to contact us if you need some help picking the perfect D-I-Y hunt for you!
