Notes from the landowner

Ute Creek is a DIY deer hunting property located in GMU 116. Consisting of over 8,500 acres it offers a wide variety of terrain including CRP grassland, pastureland, open spaces, river bottoms and other desirable deer habitat. The method of hunting on this property is spot and stalk, do not drive through fields and stay on designated roads. Lodging is not included in this hunt. Local towns such as Stratton or Burlington may have hotel availability. Infinite Outdoors may be able to put you in touch with a landowner who could sell you a landowner voucher, but it is not guaranteed. This is a 5-day hunt; the day you book will be valid for the following 4 as well. IO payment process is as follows: A reservation fee that is non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will be processed 2 weeks after the Colorado limited license draw results are posted. If you are unsuccessful in the draw, reach out to IO before the 2-week mark and they will proceed with you accordingly. The remaining 50% will process 48 hours prior to your arrival on the property.

Game and habitat information

Ute Creek provides great deer hunting opportunities with 8,500 acres and 4 different sections of rotating crops as well as abundant CRP within the area. This Eastern Colorado property is ideal hunting in the area and provides solid deer numbers year-round for this region. The quantity of land provided offers multiple opportunities on a given day for shot opportunities at times. This mixture of vast plains and agriculture produces both quality Mule deer and Whitetail deer. The combination of bedding, water drainages, excellent topography, vast grasslands and sage flats serve as exceptional habitat for this region. These properties also include Ag fields which also serve as an attractor for big game. Be sure to keep an eye out for deer activity in early mornings and evenings. Deer tend to feed in the Ag fields and find being shortly after feeding. the long creek drainage offers an excellent opportunity to intersect traveling deer and glass in early mornings and evenings to catch deer before they leave or enter bedding areas. These deer can disappear in small thick pockets of vegetation so be sure to intercept them before they disappear. This being said culmination of different landscapes provides grazing opportunities for deer throughout the property whether it's Ag or CRP.

The property was as described, however I ran into several other hunters, which wasn’t described in the booking, and there are no deer on this property. At least when I was there. I spent 4.5 days, 50 hours, and 52 miles walked on this property and ran into minimal and old deer sign.
