Four Corners Ranch - Cow elk

Located east of Upton Wy, and northeast of Four Corners Wy, this property includes approximately 1100 acres of private land cut out of the Black Hills National Forest in area 117. This property is adjacent to another thousand acres of National Forest that can also be hunted. Often times hunters can expect elk to move into the private land as there is more pressure from public land hunters which can lead to tags being filled on the ranch. This is a DIY hunt, hunters must bring all things necessary including weapon, tags, licenses, etc. All hunters must abide by Wyoming State rules and regulations. Season dates for tags start September 1st and depending on which tag you draw, end on January 31st. IO payment process is as follows: A reservation fee that is non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will be processed at the time of reservation. The remaining 50% will process one month prior to your arrival on the property to hunt.

Right in the heart of the famous Blackhills Four Corners Ranch boasts an abundance of Rocky Mountain Elk. The Elk are here for a reason, this region in Wyoming is renown for the abundance and diversity of productive habitat. Elk in particular utilize the understory in both forested and mountain shrub habitats. Elk will target these areas due to the abundance of broad leaf plants "forbs" for short. Ponderosa Pine forests and large Aspen groves on the ranch are excellent places to target Elk due to the abundance of understory vegetation and screening cover that they offer. Another tactic is to look for recently disturbed areas such as burns, beetle kill, flooding, etc. After disturbance, the plant species that grow after an event like this is exactly what elk target, Broad leaf plants "forbs". Elk in this scenario will utilize mature forested areas for cover and move into these disturbed areas for food in early morning and evenings for a feast. Pressure from the heavily hunted Black Hills Public land push elk to utilize this property. Hunters must be strategic in their approach, use the land to your advantage, lots of glassing, watch the wind, and position yourself with patience to capitalize on the right opportunity. That being said, Four Corners Ranch is an Excellent opportunity to harvest an Elk.

Reservation fees are due at the time of booking, and are non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will process 2 weeks after the draw results in this state are posted. If you are unsuccessful in the draw, reach out to IO and the situation will be handled accordingly. The remaining 50% will process 1 month prior to the hunt. All OTC hunts will require a 50% deposit of the outdoorsman fee at the time of booking as well. The remaining 50% will process 1 month prior to the hunt.

Cancellations made prior to placing a deposit will be taken care of immediately. Any cancellations needing made after placing a deposit will result in attempts to reschedule the hunt for a different season, or a different year. Please note that refunds are not guaranteed.

If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.

You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
