Rawhide #6 Layout

Rawhide #6 is a 137-acre DIY goose hunting property northeast of Wellington, Colorado, in Larimer County along the Northern Front Range in the Central Flyway.

The field is disked sugar beets, surrounded by neighboring corn and alfalfa, which makes the whole area a draw for dark geese. The property sits directly between two reservoirs. Rawhide Reservoir to the west is a power plant cooling pond that stays open all year, so there is always a roost close by, while Park Creek Reservoir to the northeast freezes over later in the season. Expect Canada geese to feed in the fields mornings and evenings and trade back to water to loaf during the day, with birds moving at all hours.

Access is exclusive and private for up to 4 hunters, booked one day at a time with no guide, no lease and no outfitter. There is no pit on the property this season, so bring your own layout or A-frame blinds, along with brush to help you hide in the open field and the rest of your gear and decoys. Every person attending must be a paid Access+ member, including non-hunters. Hunters need the proper Colorado small game license and waterfowl stamps through Colorado Parks and Wildlife and must follow all state rules on limits and method of take. Camping is not allowed and no lodging is provided, but Wellington has hotels, RV parks, fuel and supplies, with Fort Collins just south.

There is an abundance of food sources near this property including corn, alfalfa, and sugar beets which makes it attractive for geese flying over head. Park Creek Reservoir is located to the northeast which will freeze over. Rawhide reservoir is located to the west and will stay open all year around. This makes it a great place to be during the whole season. You can expect geese to come into fields in the mornings and evenings, but they still can be seen during all times of the day. Along with feeding at morning and evening, geese can be seen going back to water sources during the day to loaf.

If any pit blinds are built at the beginning of the season. Hunters are encouraged to spend a few minutes brushing in the blinds to keep them in quality condition and keep them well hidden from birds.

Reservation fees are processed at the time of booking and are non-refundable. All outdoorsman fees will process automatically, 48 hours prior to the hunt.

Cancellations must be made 48 hours or more prior to the adventure. Cancellations made within 48 hours will be subject to partial or full outdoorsman fee charges.

If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.

You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
