475Welcome to your ideal elk hunting retreat in GMU 421! This nearly 500-acre property offers prime hunting opportunities for archery and rifle seasons, with Over The Counter (OTC) tags available for archery, 2nd and 3rd rifle seasons. During archery season, OTC tags are valid on private land only. Not only does North Camp offer exclusive access to private land, it also offers direct and easy access to Grand Mesa National Forest. Also featured here are four cozy cabins equipped with all the essentials for a comfortable stay, including bathrooms, showers, cooking stations, and WiFi. Horse corrals are available for those who prefer to explore the terrain on horseback, and responsible ATV use is permitted for easy navigation throughout the property. The reservation fee for this property includes the entire season and all of the cabins, which can accommodate groups of up to eight hunters. Note that the overall cost will be the same whether you have 2 hunters or hit the maximum guest limit. Although this property offers several amazing amenities, this is still a DIY hunt and must be treated as such. That means retrieving your own downed game and providing your own equipment necessary for successful hunting.
North Camp Elk is made up of a diverse ecosystem offering essential resources for elk survival. Sage-covered hills, dense oak brush, and tall grasses provide cover and forage. Water sources like Middleton Creek and a pond serve hydration and wallowing needs. Positioned near Bald Mountain, this area is a crucial stopover for elk migration. With abundant resources, it sustains a healthy elk population year-round, contributing to the region's ecological balance.
Dependent on season. Archery hunts will be one full week.
Archery is OTC for private land only. 2nd and 3rd rifle are OTC unit wide. 1st and 4th are draw tags; you may find the draw odds here: http://cpw.state.co.us/thingstodo/Pages/Statistics.aspx
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking and are non-refundable. For all OTC seasons, 50% of the outdoorsman fee will be due at the time of booking, and the remaining 50% will be due one month prior to the hunt. For all draw seasons, 50% will process 2 weeks after the draw results post, and the remaining 50% will process one month prior to the hunt. Reach out to IO if you are unsuccessful in drawing a tag!
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released. All big game hunts may be pre-booked for future seasons; reach out to IO to inquire.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
