Notes from the landowner

This multi-generational ranch has been in the family for over 55 years and has proved to be a mule deer hunting utopia throughout time. Offering outdoorsmen the opportunity for high success DIY hunting, Scheer Circle Triangle Ranch can be your last stop in the search for a filled tag. With right about 4,600 acres of diverse terrain - 4,250 acres of deeded private land and 320 acres of landlocked state land - hunters will find a healthy population of deer on this property. Management is among the most important aspects for this ranch and will be carefully monitored. What this means is a 4-point restriction will be enforced for all harvested deer, with rare exceptions for mature deer that may grow non-typically. Hunters should know that driving wildly around the ranch will also not be permitted - it is recommended to bring a side by side or a 4wheeler and expect to park on an existing two-track or road before hiking the rest of the way for your hunt. After harvesting your animal, you may then drive to your downed game for retrieval. Upon harvesting and field dressing an animal in the field, hunters will have the ability to use the landowner's indoor shop to hang, skin and butcher their deer. On site lodging is available for booking on this property but is not included or guaranteed - if you are interested in booking the lodging, view the FAQ section below for more information. Hunters will be required to check in with the landowners prior to beginning their hunt; this information will be provided to you in the reservation confirmation email. Because this is a DIY hunt, hunters are expected to bring all of their own equipment, abide by all State of Wyoming regulations, and follow landowner rules. Hunters interested in either spring turkey or fall pronghorn hunting can find those opportunities on this ranch as well! Find the property listings on the IO website and book your adventure today.

Game and habitat information

This 4,600-acre private ranch offers excellent mule deer hunting and has seen minimal pressure over the last 10 years. To maintain strong genetics and solid buck quality, only two bucks are harvested annually, and a point restriction ensures only mature deer are taken. Hunters can expect to harvest bucks in the 150-180 inch range and see plenty of others, making this a great opportunity for those looking for a well-managed, quality herd. Every acre of the ranch is huntable, but the western side holds the best deer habitat. A deep spring-run canyon cuts through this part of the property, creating plenty of crevices and fingers that provide excellent bedding cover. The largest bucks tend to bed in the far southern reaches of the canyon, though they can be found scattered throughout. Bear Creek runs year-round along the northern end of the ranch for roughly 2 miles and is lined with tall cottonwoods that provide shade and security. 10 different stock tanks are spread across the property as well, along with a natural spring tucked away in one of the canyon pockets, ensuring a steady water supply. The north boundary also features a few irrigated meadows where deer will graze, though with little surrounding agriculture, they primarily feed on the native grasses found across the ranch. Most days the deer can be found following a pattern of migrating from their bedding areas in the southern canyon up to Bear Creek at night to feed and water before heading back south at first light. However, due to available water spread around the property, they can freely move throughout the ranch and bed wherever they see fit. While the rolling pastureland across the rest of the property isn’t primary habitat, deer will occasionally be seen crossing through. With strict harvest limits and quality habitat, this ranch offers a great opportunity for hunters seeking a well-managed property with solid mule deer hunting and the chance at a mature buck.
