Hofer Farms - Community Goose Pit

Hofer Farms Goose Pit is a DIY waterfowl property southeast of Yoder, WY. BY BOOKING THIS PROPERTY YOU ARE AGREEING TO OPEN IT UP AS A COMMUNTIY ADVENTURE. This property boasts a steel 6-man permanent pit dug in an alfalfa field, bordering a 10-acre reservoir. This property will offer opportunity at both dark geese and light geese as the snows start to migrate through the spring! The pit is roughly 40 yards from the edge of the reservoir, located on top of a hill - this is for hunters to be able to see and traffic birds traveling in each direction. Later in the season as temperatures drop, there will be an ice eater placed in the reservoir, close to the pit, to keep open water available all season long. This property listing is separate from the waterfowl blind, in an effort to keep the same spot from being hunted over an over. In the pit, you may get some pass shooting opportunities at ducks, but if a majority duck hunt is what you're after it is recommended to book the waterfowl blind rather than the pit.

This property consists of a cut, organic alfalfa field bordering a 10-acre reservoir. Located in between Table Mountain, Springer Bump Sullivan, and north of Hawk Springs reservoir, Hofer Farms is in an ideal location for trafficking geese. As temperatures drop in the region, Hofer Farms will maintain open water and become a consistent roosting area. As mentioned before, there are not only opportunities for dark geese here, but light geese as well. The snow goose hunting is generally lights out early spring as the birds are migrating through.

Reservation fees are processed at the time of booking and are non-refundable. All outdoorsman fees will process automatically, 48 hours prior to the hunt.

Cancellations must be made 48 hours or more prior to the adventure. Cancellations made within 48 hours will be subject to partial or full ourdoorsman fee charges.

If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.

You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein

Youth 13 and under are welcome on the hunt without charge given proper safety etiquette and that they adhere to the party limit size. The group leader assumes responsibility and liability for those minors on the hunt.  They are still responsible for all rules set forth in the property agreement.

There is a provided 6-man pit on this property. The lid is a Dura-Cover brush lid that blends in with the alfalfa field very well. That being said, hunters are encouraged to account for additional time before the hunt starts, to add brush to the pit lid and improve the hide.
