5When you arrive at the lake entrance and take the 3.4 mile drive around the east side of the lake to the property entrance, you will likely see plenty of deer, geese, turkeys, and other wildlife. This private lake is known for fishing and you will see the creative signs the residents have on their lake homes/ fish camps as you wind you way to the property. The road turns to gravel about a quarter mile from the property access gate. Due to the fact that the surrounding properties are primarily commercial timber company acreage, the wildlife routinely moves on to our property looking for forage and a place to bed down. The site contains 2+ miles of trails with most accessible by Jeep/4x4, a primitive campsite (Bravo Camp) with space to park a camper or trailer, and other vehicle parking just inside the gate. The property has 1500 feet of frontage along the Lake Road (1638 aka Twistwood Road). That area is a mixture of hardwoods (oak, maple, hickory) and pine. This off-lake property is accessed by driving through a private, gated lake community so hunting guests will be let in at the gate and directed to the property. Enjoy your visit and good luck with your hunt.
This property is a mixed species stand of dense forest located at the northeast end of Lake Eddins and is surrounded on the north, east, and southern boundaries by thousands of acres of commercial loblolly timber. The timber company acreage along the northern boundary was harvested three years ago. The property has one rye grass meadow with nut bearing hickory and oaks on the north side with a shooting house. Deer and other game also pass through to water at the small creeks feeding the lake.
The dense natural plant forest cover provides excellent accommodations for a wide variety of game. All of the species listed in the property name have been observed on the property except Bobcat. Cat track has been seen but we have never observed on of these elusive critters. Mississippi "Nuisance Species" can also be taken which include coyote, fox, and wild hog, all of which have frequented the property. 95% of the property is forested so most shots made will be 100 yards or less. Rifle, black powder, shotgun, crossbows and/or compound/recurve all are legal and work well. Hunters should focus their efforts to the east of the western most north/south trail.
Trailheads are clearly marked and are shown on the property map that will be provided when you arrive. The highest ground is in the middle of the parcel and the lowest is 20-30 feet less in elevation located in the northeast corner, which has a seasonal gully/intermittent creek bed that drains to the east and off parcel into managed timber.
This is a "Deep South" location so significant leaf drop and colder temps don't typically occur until later in November. January is the only month where freezing temps are predictably more common (usually at night). The property is reserved for deer hunters from November through the end of January and for Turkey hunters from Mid-March through May 1st. For those who hunt for the love of wild game meats, the flavor is good and the bag limits in Mississippi are generous.
