Notes from the landowner

Hofer Farms Reservoir is a DIY waterfowl hunting property located east of Yoder, WY, and just north of Table Mountain Wildlife HMA. BY BOOKING THIS PROPERTY, YOU ARE ACCEPTING THAT THIS YOUR RESERVATION WILL BE OPEN TO THE INFINITE OUTDOORS COMMUNITY. The property boasts a 10-acre reservoir ideal for hunting all types of waterfowl - including ducks, dark geese and light geese. Provided on this Hofer Farms property is a 4-man Alps Outdoorz A-frame blind, giving hunters the convenience of a provided hide when they arrive. Please check the access rules that are emailed to you after booking for more information on the provided blind. It is recommended to give yourself extra time in the morning to add brush and improve the blind. Late in the season when temperatures drop below freezing and the reservoir begins to freeze, an ice eater will be placed in the water to keep an open pocket all season long! This will truly be a waterfowl hot spot. As this is a DIY hunt, hunters will need to provide their own gear, decoys, and chairs for the pit. Though shallow enough around the shore to set and pick up decoys, it is recommended to have a dog or other form of bird retrieval in case of birds falling in the middle of the reservoir.

Game and habitat information

This 10-acre reservoir attracts waterfowl in big numbers. Located just off of Table Mountain Wildlife HMA, 6 miles east of Goshen Hole Reservoir, 12 miles north Hawk Springs Reservoir, and no more than 8 miles from the nearest North Platte River roost, Hofer Farms is perfectly located in between where the birds are - and where they want to be. Later in the year when temperatures drop and other nearby water freezes, Hofer Farms will serve as a roosting spot along with the North Platte River. Not only is the open water an attractant here, but there are also several alfalfa and corn fields within the vicinity that will traffic birds to the area. As mentioned before, this property will offer ample opportunity for many species of ducks, dark geese, and light geese. Don't miss out on early spring opportunities at big numbers of snow geese as well!

Ducks everywhere - thousands. Blind placement next to a large, shinny water intake structure must have been done by an experienced elephant hunter. Called them in & at 50-75 yards or so they would sway away. Of course it was dark when we setup. Didn't realize what was happening until structure was exposed from the shining sun. Fled to the cattails but too late. 5 hunters bagged 2 ducks, and that was it!
