Cow ElkThe Star Place is a DIY elk hunting property located west of Wheatland, Wyoming, in elk unit 7. This property is made up of just over 2,000 acres of private land and opens access to over 10,000 acres of BLM and Access Yes land. It comprises multiple different terrains, with elevations ranging from 6,800 to 7,200 feet. Hunters will find both open country and some timber cover on this property. Hunters must abide by all Wyoming Game & Fish hunting regulations while on this property. All hunters in a party are required to be active members of Infinite Outdoors and must be listed on the hunting party's adventure. This is a COW HUNT only. If you are wanting to book a bull elk hunt, please visit the listing on the IO platform that is for bull hunts.
The Star Place is located in the heart of Wyoming’s Unit 7. This region is renowned for its habitat and healthy game populations. Elk will gather in this property’s forested and mountain shrub areas. Elk target these locations due to the abundance of broad leaf plant "forbs.” It will be helpful to look for recently disturbed areas such as burn areas, beetle kill trees, flood areas, etc. After disturbances, plant growth is improved, which often brings elk to these areas. During rifle season, hunting pressure on public land sections nearby will also push more elk onto this property. While hunters must be strategic in their approach here, the Star Place is a must for your next Elk hunting adventure.
After your hunt, you will be sent an automated Harvest Report. To assist Infinite Outdoors in maintaining the quality of properties - and continue to put conservation at the forefront - we require that the harvest report be completely filled out and returned. Failure to fill out the harvest report within 2 weeks of the hunt taking place will result in a $25 fine. If you are unsuccessful in filling your tag, Infinite Outdoors still needs to have that information provided to them. This is how we will make changes to future year's harvest quotas and continue to be the most well managed access and conservation platform in the country.
If you are successful in harvesting an animal on this property, as a request of the landowners you must send in the Landowner Coupon that is attached to your big game license. Any hunter who successfully fills their tag but fails to return the landowner coupon will receive a $25 fine. This will be issued to the landowner in lieu of the money they would have received from the state through the landowner coupon program. The Harvest Report (noted above) is how you will notify Infinite Outdoors of your hunt results. Unsuccessful hunters are not required to return a coupon. The additional income driven through landowner coupons is a great way to continue incentivizing landowners to allow access to their land - we ask for your help in this endeavor, to keep quality access available at the touch of a button. Upon successful harvest, please send your landowner coupon to: PO Drawer 2360, Casper, WY 82602.
5 days. By booking the first day of your adventure, you are automatically booking the following 4 as well. The reservation will be for the entire time frame, and your entire group.
All type 8 tags will be over the counter for this unit. Other tag types, the odds can be found at infiniteoutdoorsusa.com/links/wyo-draw-odds
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking, and are non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will process 2 weeks after the draw results in this state are posted. If you are unsuccessful in the draw, reach out to IO and the situation will be handled accordingly. The remaining 50% will process 1 month prior to the hunt. All OTC hunts will require a 50% deposit of the outdoorsman fee at the time of booking as well. The remaining 50% will process 1 month prior to the hunt.
Cancellations made prior to placing a deposit will be taken care of immediately. Any cancellations needing made after placing a deposit will result in attempts to reschedule the hunt for a different season, or a different year. Please note that refunds are not guaranteed.
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.

Didn’t see an elk but the property laid well with potential. Lots of pressure before my hunt and on the neighboring property, so it’s hard to give a good assessment.

Unfortunately did not see any elk during our 5 day hunt on the property. Most of the sign appeared old. We did observe elk on nearby private property that was not accessible. The freshest sign was on the southern parcel that was difficult to access.
