Wiggins Dam Layout Field

Wiggins Dam Layout Field is located just north of Wiggins, Colorado. This layout field consists of roughly 120 acres of winter wheat, in the Central Flyway. It is placed in the middle of the notorious 'Golden Triangle', which lies between 3 large bodies of water that hold big numbers of birds. Hunters should keep in mind that though this property has dynamite location, it is not the "X". Being surrounded by corn, Wiggins Dam will not be the first choice for geese to feed in, and the hunt will be more of hunting traffic birds, than hunting the main feed. However, with good brushing of blinds and a well-set decoy spread, hunters will still find success pulling birds. Target cold weather days, and new migrations of un-wise birds to find success. Early season hunting can also be productive, especially if surrounding corn has not yet been cut. Hunters are not allowed to drive into the winter wheat; all decoys and blinds must be carried into the field. This is a DIY hunting opportunity, meaning hunters must bring all things needed, including blinds, licensing, and decoys. There will not be a blind or pit for use. Additionally, all attending parties must be members of Infinite Outdoors to access this property legally. Please abide by all Colorado state rules and regulations.

Located in the northeastern section of Colorado, Wiggins Dam Layout Field is perfect for seeing large amounts of Canada geese, as well as light geese. This section of Eastern Colorado is pumped full of agricultural fields that offer crucial food for these migrating birds. This property is also selectively placed and in close proximity to three reservoirs in which geese utilize heavily for loafing before the freeze. These ag fields will see thousands of birds throughout the season. Cold spells and snow can increase bird activity and willingness to drop down to crops for feed. This particular property is made of wheat stubble. Be sure to check Colorado waterfowl season dates and brush up on bird identification.

Though inconvenient, hunters are asked not to drive into the winter wheat field. Hunters can drive along the 2-track on the west side of the property and enter from there on foot only.

You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.

All access is on the northwest corner of the property. Please do not drive further south on the 2-track than the hunting boundary. In other words, avoid the houses to the south of the hunting boundary.
