Game and habitat information
The open plains of eastern Colorado provide great habitat for large numbers of deer. With an abundance of food sources, bedding areas and cover, along with limited public pressure, game numbers and size are very good. Agriculture field provide protein rich food year-round which helps produce good species abundance. Look for deer to feed in agriculture fields and utilize small drainages or creek bottoms for travel and bedding, especially as pressure increases during hunting seasons. This area is home to both whitetail and mule deer.
