Whitetail and Mule DeerUte Canyon is a deer hunting property that consists of just over 7000 acres located in GMU 116. It is multiple plots of land covering a large area, containing mostly pastureland, CRP grasslands, dried creek bottoms and ponds. There is nearby agricultural land for game to feed before they sneak back into the cover provided on this property. All of this allows deer to reside throughout the year. The particular area of 116 this property falls in is home to more mule deer than whitetail, however it is not unlikely to see both species. This is a draw unit for buck tags, though Infinite Outdoors may be able to put you in contact with the landowner for a voucher; you will purchase the voucher directly from this landowner. Deer hunts on this property will be sold in 5-day hunts, for both archery and rifle. The day you book will be vailid for the following 4 as well. Lodging is not included, though nearby towns such as Stratton, Burlington, or Cheyenne Wells have available hotels. Infinite Outdoors may be able to provide lodging near Stratton, but that is subject to many blackout dates. This is a DIY deer hunt property; however guided hunt options are available through a separate company. Reach out to Infinite Outdoors to discuss those options. IO payment process is as follows: A reservation fee that is non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will be processed 2 weeks after the Colorado limited license draw results are posted. If you are unable to draw, contact an IO team member and they will proceed with you accordingly. The remaining 50% will process 48 hours prior to your arrival on the property.
The open plains of eastern Colorado provide great habitat for large numbers of deer. With an abundance of food sources, bedding areas and cover, along with limited public pressure, deer numbers and size are very good. Agriculture fields provide protein rich food year-round which helps produce good species abundance. This property has many draws and dry creek beds making excellent holding areas. look for deer feeding morning and evenings on agriculture and moving to creek beds and canyons for bedding mid-day.
Hunters must cancel within 2 weeks after the draw results post. If deposit is made, we will push you to following year/season if possible.

If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released. All big game hunts may be pre-booked for future seasons; reach out to IO to inquire.

Hunting Ute Canyon was very tough. Firstly, many of the properties were cut and tilled with nothing but dirt, Sam helped out and gave us other options to hunt. However, we never saw a deer on any of those properties. We hiked far every day, glassed, did pushes, and tried everything we could to locate deer on these properties. Out of the 7 pieces we were able to hunt only one of the pieces were holding deer. The bigger issue was the way the property was layed out. The deer on this piece either stayed to a 2.5 mile long stretch of milo and would run out the bottom as soon as they saw you or they would leave the milo and never stop until they left the property it was very tough to cut them off. Overall expect to walk 6 - 10 miles a day, and don't expect to see true trophy-class deer on the Ute Canyon Property.

The property is nothing like google earth or onx shows. We did the hunt 1st week of Dec all but one property was completely plowed to dirt. Zero cover, zero food, zero water. They will tell you you have to walk to see animals we hiked and glassed all day for 3 days covering over 36 miles and seeing very very limited amounts of deer. Surrounding properties of corn actual vegetation and hills looked great and help deer but our property was not really deer country. Also the only huntable piece we had people were driving side by sides through the property after we had to hike in 4 miles.
