639Scheer Circle Triangle Ranch is a DIY turkey hunting property located just west of La Grange, Wyoming. As a part of a much larger ranch, this property offers just about 650 acres of private property along Bear Creek, which provides excellent turkey habitat. It is important to note that though the hunting territory is private, there is a public road - Bear Creek Road - that borders the southern end of the hunting zone. Though it is not a heavily trafficked road, there is potential for a car to travel through during your hunt. However, fear not, as there is plenty of space to the north to tuck in and have a successful hunt without any interference. Plus, hunters may use the road to get from one end of the property to the other, without tromping through the hunting ground. On site lodging is available for booking on this property but is not included or guaranteed - if you are interested in booking the lodging, view the FAQ section below for more information. Hunters will be required to check in with the landowners prior to beginning their hunt; this information will be provided to you in the reservation confirmation email. Because this is a DIY hunt, hunters are expected to bring all of their own equipment, abide by all State of Wyoming regulations, and follow landowner rules. Hunters interested in either pronghorn or mule deer hunting can find those opportunities on this ranch as well! Find the property listings on the IO website and book your adventure today.
This private ranch offers wonderful Merriam Turkey hunting opportunities and has seen minimal pressure over the last 10 years. Although every acre of the ranch is huntable, the northern edge of the property - outlined by this hunting boundary - certainly offers the best turkey habitat. With 2 full miles of Bear Creek making up the majority of hunting ground here, there is plenty of room for birds to call it a home range. The creek here is found flowing at the bottom of a fairly steep canyon, with hefty inclines to the north and south. Because the terrain changes so rapidly, birds generally will not move to the north and south and will instead move along the creek to the east and west. However, if pressured, they will go where they need to go to escape. Lined with cottonwoods for roosting, thick grasses and several irrigated meadows that produce many seeds and bugs, along with a sustainable water source, Scheer Circle Triangle Ranch has all the necessary ingredients for a quality hunt. Naturally, in the fall and winter, turkeys in this area will band together and can be found sporadically along the creek in large groups. But, as spring rolls around, they will break up into their smaller groups and begin to move more consistently up and down the creek bottom. Early spring is a great time to hunt unpressured and uneducated birds, while late spring can be a great time to find those lone traveling toms who are looking for the last hen to be bred. With strict harvest limits and quality habitat, this ranch offers a great opportunity to fill a tag on the ever so coveted Merriam Turkey.
