Dead Horse Draw - Arkansas River

This property includes almost 3/4 of a mile of the Arkansas River located just west of Cotopaxi, CO. Access to this property requires a four-wheel drive vehicle as driving will include driving down a dirt road and part of a sandy washout area. This stretch of the Arkansas provides a fantastic opportunity for both fly and spin fishing with a typical catch being 12” to 16” brown and rainbow trout. A vehicle with 4WD is required to access the parking area. Maximum 2 vehicles allowed. SPEEDING OVER 15 MPH ON PRIVATE ROADS WILL RESULT IN FINES.

The Arkansas River is a great trout stream that has remained healthy throughout the years, resulting in excellent trout and aquatic insect numbers. This section of the Arkansas River primarily holds browns, rainbows and the occasional cutbow. This property provides great habitat for healthy wild fish and ample opportunity to catch them. When fishing this section of river, look for riffles, tailouts of larger runs, and slower water closer to the bank and behind rocks as this is where fish will likely be found.
