State Trust LandDead Horse Draw, located near Cotopaxi, Colorado, provides unique access to approximately 161 acres of private land adjoining nearly 3/4 mile of the scenic Arkansas River. As part of Infinite Outdoors’ “Access Granted” program, this property allows outdoor enthusiasts to explore a stunning stretch of river and surrounding terrain that is otherwise difficult to access. Through a simple reservation process and active Access Membership, guests can enjoy premium opportunities for fishing, rafting, hiking, and even bighorn sheep hunting, all while helping to support responsible land use and conservation efforts. Please note: overnight camping is not permitted on this property, ensuring the landscape remains pristine and undisturbed. Rafting this section of the river offers scenic views and a peaceful yet adventurous way to enjoy the landscape. Hikers and hunters can traverse the upland terrain in pursuit of bighorn sheep or simply take in the rugged beauty of the surrounding canyon environment. To ensure a safe and enjoyable visit, guests are required to use a 4WD vehicle due to dirt roads and sandy washouts leading to the property. A strict 15 MPH speed limit must be observed on all private roads, with violations subject to fines starting at $100. All access is contingent upon prior reservation through the Infinite Outdoors platform, and each individual must be listed in the reservation to avoid trespassing issues. Use of the Infinite Outdoors mobile app is highly recommended for accurate navigation, entry points, and boundary information to help guests stay within permitted areas and comply with all property guidelines.
Through this collaboration between Infinite Outdoors and private landowners, the Access Granted program is opening new doors for responsible outdoor recreation, promoting access to otherwise hard-to-reach natural areas, while maintaining respect for the land and its resources.
The habitat at Dead Horse Draw is a diverse mix of riparian riverbanks, rocky outcrops, and semi-arid uplands. These ecosystems provide a rich environment for both aquatic and terrestrial wildlife. Along the river, anglers may spot waterfowl, eagles, and other bird species, while the upland areas support populations of bighorn sheep and mule deer. The relatively undisturbed nature of the property makes it a haven for both wildlife and outdoor enthusiasts seeking solitude and a high-quality recreational experience. Fishing enthusiasts will appreciate the Arkansas River’s reputation for excellent trout fishing, with brown and rainbow trout being the most common species encountered. Anglers can expect healthy populations of fish ranging between 12 to 16 inches, with opportunities for both fly and spin fishing.
Booking access through this listing allows you access ONLY for the day reserved. Camping overnight is not permitted. If consecutive days of access are desired, they must be booked individually.
All outdoorsmen who attend a reservation on this property must be active Access Members on the Infinite Outdoors platform. They must also be invited, and accept the invitation, in order to legally access through the private land. The Access Membership is free to all users.
While this property will be monitored, it is encouraged to reach out to IO to report suspicious activity, or any potential trespassing. The goal of the Access Granted initiative is to provide managed access that is always free, never overcrowded, and well taken care of.

We had an epic fall day experience. My buddy and I caught approximately 45 fish between the two of us.
