Dark GeeseNotes from the landowner
Park Creek #13 is a DIY goose hunting property northwest of Wellington, Colorado. This agricultural field is settled a few miles from both Rawhide and Park Creek reservoirs; thus, the property is sure to see plenty of geese in flight. Being situated in the Central Flyway of Colorado, this location is also sure to see plenty of geese looking for solid ground to rest on. This property has planted corn, a known food source of many migrating geese. This property does offer hunters concealment via a 6-man pit that will be dug every year. All hunters must be current IO members, as well as bring their own equipment for this DIY hunt, including a seat for the pit. All hunters must also follow any and all Colorado Parks and Wildlife rules and regulations.
Game and habitat information
Park Creek #13 is a 137-acre corn field several miles northwest of Wellington Colorado, well within the Central Flyway of migrating geese. This corn field, sitting between two reservoirs, becomes a prime location for goose hunting as it intercepts the migratory path of these birds, provides them with water access, and the tasteful grain they often choose to target. Corn provides geese with a vital source of nutrition, that helps them survive the colder and colder months. Therefore, a corn field also acts as a natural attractant, enabling hunters to capitalize on their natural feeding instincts. One of the local bodies of water will be open all season long, and will never freeze over, only adding to the number of geese to be seen in the area.
