Goat Ranch Waterfowl - Layout

Goat Ranch is a DIY waterfowl property located outside of Casper, WY. This property is in a good flyway and can provide opportunity at both ducks and geese. There will be no blind provided or pit dug, so plan to either bring a layout blind or build a blind out of the existing sage brush and grass. The hunters can set-up on the northwestern edge, near the pivot and in a patch of sage brush that will help conceal hunters in the hay field, or anywhere in the 6-acre cut oat field in the central part of the property. There is a close green gate just West of the trees by the house to enter the property for hunting the oat field. There are several other wire stretch gates further west to access the hay field. Only the furthest NW corner was irrigated hay so recommendation is to set-up there vs in the pasture land between the two irrigated options. Sky busting is absolutely prohibited on this property. Pass shooting is allowed if easily in range, but feet down in the spread is always the goal. Do NOT shoot towards the house or barn and avoid driving into the field when wet- stop after entering the fence to the field to unload decoys. SPEEDING OVER 15mph ON PRIVATE ROADS WILL RESULT IN FINES- as will injuring stock, damaging property, dogs attacking chickens, etc. Fines are a minimum of $100 but can be more depending on damage and level of violation.

This property is made up of, part agricultural land, a creek bottom, and some open brush land. This property has all the key ingredients for a good waterfowl hunt, water, food, cover, and most importantly lots of birds. For 2025 the adjoining field has been plated with oats and due to some beneficial changes in the creek flow there will is a huntable small pond that has formed.

This property is a layout field however, hunters can bring A frames. This property does not have a provided blind. Hunters are encouraged to account for additional time needed to build a brush blind, or brush in any blinds that are brought with.

Reservation fees are processed at the time of booking and are non-refundable. All outdoorsman fees will process automatically, 48 hours prior to the hunt.

Cancellations must be made 48 hours or more prior to the adventure. Cancellations made within 48 hours will be subject to partial or full ourdoorsman fee charges.

If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.

You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
