Notes from the landowner

North Camp Moose is a DIY moose hunting property located in GMU 421. This property consists of roughly 500 acres in the high desert terrain and is part of a territory with a large population of Shiras Moose. Moose are regularly seen in the area, especially in the pond located on this private ranch. Not only does North Camp have pristine and exclusive access to private land, but it also offers up direct access to Grand Mesa National Forest. This public land access is extremely sought after and will be some of the only available access in this area for later seasons; most roads in this area come November are no longer maintained or accessible. ATV's or horses are encouraged for hunting on this property, with responsible use being of utmost importance. Also included on North Camp is the luxury of lodging directly on site. 4 cozy and remote cabins are provided in the cost of the hunt and provide everything a DIY hunter could need: Showers, cooking stations, heaters, clean and comfy beds, and Wi-Fi. The reservation fee for this adventure includes a full week of hunting and all of the lodging available. Although this package offers many luxurious amenities, this is still a DIY hunt. Hunters will need to be prepared for retrieving their own downed game and must provide their own hunting equipment for success.

Game and habitat information

North Camp Moose is a special moose hunting property for many reasons. Not only does it provide ideal habitat for moose in the area, but it also has a place in history for the Colorado moose population. Only a few miles from North Camp, CPW relocated over 90 moose in the years 2005-2007. Because of these efforts, moose populations in Colorado have continued to grow while surrounding state's populations have begun to diminish. Therefore, this area and this property are at an advantage for moose hunters already. Throw in the desired habitat that North Camp offers, and you've got yourself a moose haven. Water is a large reason game stays in this area, and North Camp has a large majority of the existing water access within miles. Moose can be found feeding on the vegetation each water source provides and are regularly seen cooling off in a pond located on this private property. It truly is an ideal spot for any hunter who has finally drawn that coveted moose tag!

Hunt Duration

5-7 Days depending on season.

Payment

Reservation fees are due at the time of booking and non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will process 2 weeks after the draw results post. The remaining 50% will process 1 month prior to the hunt. Reach out to IO if you are unsuccessful in the draw.

Availability

If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released. All big game hunts may be pre-booked for future seasons; reach out to IO to inquire.

Trespassing

You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
