2Come out and enjoy Sunrise, Bear River Ranch. The Bear River is the longest river in North America that does not ultimately reach the ocean. It is the largest tributary of the Great Salt Lake in Utah. Anglers will enjoy 0.7 miles of the Bear River just South of Evanston, Wyoming. At Sunrise, Bear River Ranch, a diverse range of trout species, including Brookies, Browns, Rainbows, and the occasional Mountain White Fish, offer thrilling opportunities.
Due to livestock and other concerns, dogs are not allowed on this property.
As you explore the upstream boundary of the river you will be pleased with just how easy it is to access. There are a few cut banks followed by some deep pools. Towards the middle section of the river, anglers will come along a central channel that can be targeted from either side of the river. This section allows for easy nymphing and targeted dry fly fishing. The downs stream section can be a smorgasbord of opportunities. There is a long deep run that can hold an opportunistic trout and as this run tapers, the river transforms into shallower waters interspersed with pocket water that can hide eager fish.

Review from 07/13/22: It was the best day of fishing I have ever had at Sunrise! A few of the fish were caught when I was alone(so they are in the water) and we didn't take a picture of anything under 18-19". I caught one 22". They were so healthy and we caught them all on Dry Flies (Stoneflies and Cicadas) there were size 10-12 spinners (probably Green Drake) in the morning and big golden stone exoskeletons all over the rocks and they remembered what they were and ate them:) had a few slaps at Mice, no hookups. We think we landed 22 fish 16 Browns, 6 Cutts. It looks like the water had very recently dropped and was a little cooler than I remember it on past trips. The fish were extra beautiful, extraordinary in my opinion, and anything over about 19" is proportionately thicker and deeper than most Browns! in fact there were 2 fish that didn't make the pics because they were only 17" which is the fish of the day most places; that had the brightest orange spots, almost fluorescent.

Bear River property is stellar. Access is straightforward and easy to navigate. We had many browns pushing over 18” on streamers and I spooked one that was well over 20”. The property itself is peaceful and private. The family who owns the ranch are lovely. Highly recommend!
