Boulder Creek South - Elk Hunt

Buckeye Mountain South is a DIY elk hunting property located just outside of Nederland, CO in GMU 38. Unit 38 is an OTC unit for archery season, as well as second and third rifle season. This property is not available during the 1st rifle season. This property consists of over 550 acres of private access, that backs up to over 20,000 acres of National Forest. The area is immersed in dark timber, quakie patches, and open parks providing a perfect place for elk and other game to reside. There are multiple water sources available for game in the area, including South Boulder Creek, ponds, and other small tributary creeks flowing down the mountain. Camping is not permitted on this private property, but there are several areas on the public land to set up camp. There are also hotels nearby in Nederland. IO payment process is as follows: A reservation fee that is non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will be processed at the time of your booking, and the other 50% will be processed a month prior to your arrival on the property to hunt.

This property sits south of Rocky Mountain National Park with terrain consisting of dark timber, aspen quakie patches, open parks and good water sources. Due to the elevation and position in the migration path, elk tend to be active this area during archery rifle season depending on snow levels in the fall and early winter. The vast acreage of public and private ground that this property gives you access to provides good opportunities for later season rifle hunts. Elk tend to use the property for breeding, wallowing and feeding while grasses are still available during the summer, fall and early winter. There are several creek beds located on the property that can be a great water and wallow sources used by elk during early the early part of archery season. This is a great area to call in elk and find small and large groups of cows with bulls often being harvested in the 300" class.
