9This property consists of approximately 8,000 acres of phenomenal big game hunting. Round Butte is located Northwest of Wellington, Colorado in GMU 9. This property is no stranger to seeing elk in high numbers later in the season. There are multiple two-tracks throughout the property that can be utilized to get closer to game and make a shot that counts. These hunts will only be offered as guided cow hunts, through a third party who holds an outfitter license. For more information, please reach out to IO and they will get this set up for you. Please be sure to read all rules and regulations before coming on this hunt. You must still be a member of Infinite Outdoors to be able to hunt this property.
Gilman Mountain is a great place for cow elk hunting as they have been seen in a high density throughout this property in recent years. Gilman Mountain stands in the middle of the property at just over 6,000 feet. The property ranges between about 6,400 and 5,600 feet. As temperatures drop during the year, Elk will normally travel from higher elevations to lower elevations. Cows will primarily be with other cows and calves and bulls will primarily be around other bulls. With the abundance of food sources coming from agriculture fields such as Alfalfa in the lower elevations. Boxelder Creek, runs along the border of the property as well, which serves as a water source. Elk herds later in the year will be in large numbers, so patience while hunting them is a must, to ensure an ethical shot is taken.
