87Simpson Creek is a DIY pronghorn property that is located just inside the Colorado border, northwest of Rockport, Colorado. It consists of over 7,400 acres of fantastic Colorado pronghorn terrain. Multiple water sources, and plenty of room to roam keeps a population of pronghorn on this property all season long. Squaw Rock falls in GMU 87, which is notorious for quality pronghorn. This unit is a draw only unit for rifle hunts and requires upwards of 8 preference points to draw.
This area in northeast Colorado provide great habitat for large numbers of pronghorn. With an abundance of food sources, bedding areas and water, pronghorn numbers and size are very good. The surrounding plains and dry creek beds provide great habitat and give hunters the opportunity to move around the property with ease. Look for goats to utilize small drainages or creek bottoms for travel and bedding, especially as pressure increases during hunting seasons. Water tanks on the property provide great set up opportunities to see a lot of pronghorn. This area is great for trophy size bucks due to the good habitat and low tag numbers.
