6-man pitPlatte Flats East is a DIY waterfowl hunting property located just east of the town of Julesburg, CO. It is an 80-acre rotated crop field, planted in sunflowers currently, with a 6-man permanent pit being located in an optimal area for visuals, both for hunters and for any birds in the air. This area of Colorado is notorious for opportunities at both light and dark geese, as well as the occasional field duck. This property holds a 6-man permanent pit, designed to perfection. Hunters will need to bring their own chairs or buckets for sitting. Parking on this property will be across the road in the mowed grass area. Dog owners beware, this pit is covered in puncture vine that may be harmful to them. Bring dogs at own discretion. All hunters at this location must abide by all state of Colorado regulations, including but not limited to, licensing, limits, and method of take.
Platte Flatts East is located in close proximity to the South Platte River, which means throughout the season there will be several areas east, west, and north of the field that act as roosts for any migrating birds. This property will be in a rotated crop program, meaning it will be different every year. For the 2023 season it will be SUNFLOWERS. When done right, sunflowers are a natural attractant for geese. This field will be cut, and the stocks will be leveled around the pit, giving geese the ability to land in a decoy spread without hitting their wings on tall sunflower stocks. Throughout the year, there will be several pushes of new birds in this area. Light and dark geese will come through in large numbers, and this pit will be available all season long.

If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
Layout Blind hunting for geese can be equally as quality as hunting from a pit, if done right. Hunters who do not have a layout blind, and are members of Infinite Outdoors, should check out their member benefits for discounts on Alps Outdoorz blinds.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
Although the blind is there, please consider showing up earlier and brushing yourself in the way you see fit. However, please also keep modesty in mind, and do not overdo the blind by tearing up the property.
